Birth flower for January 21
Horned violet
Meaning: honest love
The horn in its name is the slender spur behind each flower. Most violas in today's flower beds are garden hybrids crossed again and again with pansies, so there is no strict botanical line between them; gardeners simply call the smaller, more free-flowering ones violas. Being cold hardy, it is a star of winter and spring bedding.
