Birth flower for February 2
Daffodil
Meaning: New beginnings
Daffodils belong to the genus Narcissus, named for the beautiful youth of Greek myth who fell in love with his own reflection and became a flower. William Wordsworth saw a host of them by a lake in England's Lake District and wrote "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud". The daffodil is also a national emblem of Wales, worn on St David's Day, March 1.
